Assigning Behaviors to Individual Students

You can assign a behavior to a student by selecting the behavior first and then searching for the student's name or scanning their ID. This is the most efficient method for providing immediate feedback during hallway transitions or one-on-one interactions.

Step-by-step guide to Assigning Behaviors to Individual Students

  1. Open the Minga and go to My Tools.

  2. Select either the Praise or Guidance button.

  3. Click or tap on a specific behavior from the list provided (e.g., Kindness, Effort, or School Spirit).

  4. Enter a Note to student (optional) by typing a message in the text field to explain why they are receiving the behavior.
    • Example: "Great effort today!" or "Thank you for your help today."

  5. Click the Next button to move to the student selection screen.

  6. Identify the student using one of the following methods:
    a. Scan An ID: Use your device camera to scan the student's digital or physical ID card.
    b. Search User(s): Type the student's name into the search bar.
    c. Filter: Use filters to find students by Grade, Role, Group, or User List.

  7. Confirm the selection and tap the Assign button to complete the process.

The Student-First Workflow

You can use the My Class tool to quickly send behaviors to multiple students or your entire class list at the same time. This workflow is ideal for teachers who want to award points for class-wide participation or group projects.

  6. Select a Category (such as Praise) and choose the relevant behavior (e.g., Above & Beyond).

  7. Write a Note to student (optional) in the provided text box to add context to the reward.

  8. Click the Assign button to send the behavior and any associated points to all selected students.

Additional Features and Notifications

How do students know they received a behavior or points?

When you assign a behavior, the specified students will receive an immediate notification through the Minga App. This notification includes your personalized message and details about any points awarded for Praise behaviors.

Pro Tip: Use the optional message field to provide specific feedback. This helps students understand exactly which behaviors are being encouraged or discouraged.

Where are Praise points recorded?

Points earned through Praise behaviors are automatically added to the student's total and contribute to both individual and team leaderboards. Teachers can manage these points through the Manage Points or Redeem Points buttons on the My Tools dashboard if this permission has been enabled by an Owner in their Minga.
