Security Features to Verify an ID

Minga includes built-in security animations to ensure your staff and campus monitors are always looking at a live, genuine Minga Digital ID Card.

Step-by-Step Guide to Viewing Security Features

  1. Check the Live Clock at the top of the ID card to ensure it matches the current time and is counting by the second.

    • ○ If the clock shows the wrong time or is not actively counting, the ID is not live.

  2. Observe the Gradient Flash moving constantly from the bottom left to the top right of the ID card.

    • ○ If the flash is not active, you are likely looking at a screenshot.

  3. Confirm the ID status via your own device if the security features are missing.

    • ○ Open the ID Dashboard on your device to search for the student and verify their current ID status.

Monitoring Stickers and Hall Passes

You can quickly see a student's school involvement and current location permissions by looking at the top section of their Digital ID.

Step-by-Step Guide to Monitoring Stickers and Hall Passes

  1. View Digital ID Stickers at the top of the Student ID Card to see memberships for clubs or associations.

    ○ You can display as many stickers as you like. An arrow will appear to scroll through the stickers associated with the student.

  2. Swipe the Sticker Bar if the student has more than three stickers to reveal the full list of memberships.

  3. Check the Digital Hall Pass section if your school uses the Hall Pass module.

    ○ You will see an active countdown timer showing exactly how much time remains on the student's current pass.

FAQs

How do I know if a student is showing me a screenshot instead of a live ID?

You can determine if a student is showing a screenshot by checking if the Live Clock is counting the seconds and verifying that the Gradient Flash is moving across the screen; if these are static, it is a screenshot.

What should I do if the clock on the student's ID is wrong?

If the clock is the wrong time or not counting, you should confirm the student's identity by checking the student's name in the ID Dashboard on your own authorized device.

How can I tell how much time a student has left on their hall pass?

You can see the time remaining on a student's pass by looking at the Digital Hall Pass section at the top of their ID, which displays an active countdown timer.

Troubleshooting

  • Animations are not moving: Ensure the student's phone is not in a "Low Power Mode" or "Battery Saver" mode, which can sometimes pause browser animations. If it still doesn't move, treat it as a static screenshot and verify via your ID Dashboard.

  • Stickers are missing: If a student claims to have a sticker that isn't appearing, refresh the app or check their profile in the User List to ensure they have been added to the correct group or association. Also, double-check that the student's device is connected to an active internet connection as their ID may be showing out of date information.
