Student Self Registration for FlexTime Activities

Everything a student needs to know about finding available activities, registering for periods, and managing their FlexTime schedule.

FlexTime registration allows you to choose where you spend your enrichment or intervention time during the school day. By registering for activities, you can sign up for extra help, join clubs, or participate in school events. This article explains how to find available sessions and secure your spot before the deadline.

Registering for a Flex Period

To participate in a FlexTime session, you must first select an available period and then choose a specific activity within that period.

Step-by-step Guide to Self Registering for a Flex Activity

  1. Navigate to the FlexTime tab within My Tools.

    • This page shows all upcoming Flex periods available to you.

  2. Click the Register button next to the period you wish to join.

  3. Select the Activity you want to join from the list of options.

    • You will see the name of the teacher, the location, and how many seats are left.

    • Optional: You can search by Activity name or select a specific Teacher from the Teacher dropdown menu.

  4. View the confirmation message to ensure your registration was successful.


Changing Your Registration

Students may need to change their registration to another activity before the FlexPeriod starts. Luckily, they can do this without Teacher or admin help!

Step-by-step Guide to Changing your Flex Time Activity

  1. In the FlexTime tab of My Tools, select the current FlexTime activity you want to update.

  2. Click Change.

  3. Choose your new activity to switch FlexTime activities.

  4. Click Register to confirm your new FlexTime activity choice.

Fun Fact: Once a Student has self registered for an activity, they cannot unregister for the period, they can only change activities so that they always have somewhere to go during the Flex Period.


Understanding Activity Availability

When you are looking for an activity, you will see different status tags. These tell you if you can join a specific session.

Status Tag

What it means

Remaining Seats

The number of spots still available. Students can still self register if there are remaining seats.

Activity full

The activity has reached its maximum capacity. The entry will be greyed out, and you cannot register.

Not available

Students should not see activities they are not eligible to attend listed in the activities. For example, it may be restricted to a specific grade or group.


Registration Deadlines

Your school may set a Student Registration Deadline for Flex periods. If a deadline is active, you must complete your registration or make any changes before that time.

What happens after the deadline?

If you try to register after the cutoff, you will see a Past Deadline message. At this point, you will no longer be able to self-register or change your activity. If you still need to be placed in an activity, you must contact your Teacher or a school Admin.


Troubleshooting

Issue: I cannot see any activities in my FlexPeriods in My Tools.

Solution: If you do not see any available activities for the upcoming Flex Period, your school may not have enabled self registration for students. Reach out to your Teacher to see if they can register you for an activity.

Issue: I registered to an activity by mistake and I do not want to be in any activities, how do I unregister so I do not have an activity?

Solution: Students cannot unregister from an activity, they can only change registrations to swap activities. If you are not supposed to be registered to any Flex activities, reach out to your school admin or Flex Manager to have you removed from the activity.


FAQs

Can I register for a Flex period if I missed the initial signup?

Yes, you can register for a Flex period at any time as long as the registration for that specific period is still open and has not passed its deadline. If the period is still active for registration, navigate to My Tools > FlexTime and click Register to choose your activity.

Can I register for a Flex activity that has already occurred?

No, you cannot register for Flex activities in periods that have already occurred or are past the registration deadline. Once a period is over or the deadline has passed, the registration options are disabled to ensure accurate attendance and scheduling records.
