This article discusses how to view, edit and archive consequence records, and how to monitor the progress of students through your discipline policy in Minga.

You can manage consequence records from Consequence History, and you can monitor student progress through policy steps using Automation Counter.

You can review your school’s consequence records by filtering Consequence History.

Step-by-step Guide to Viewing Consequences in the Consequence History Report

  1. Navigate to Behaviors and click the Reports tab.
    ○ The Reports tab contains consequence and automation reporting views.

  2. Select Consequence History from the report dropdown.
    ○ The report loads with filter controls at the top of the screen.

  3. Set filters to narrow results
    ○ Filter by Automation group to focus on a specific discipline policy (for example, tardy policy).
    ○ Filter by Consequence type to show only warnings, detentions, or referrals.
    ○ Filter by Date to focus on a time period.
    ○ Filter by Status to show active, completed, archived, or overdue items (based on your environment).

  4. Click Apply Filters.
    ○ The results list updates to match your filters.

Edit or Archive Consequences

There may be times when you need to edit a consequence or remove it entirely. Anyone with the role of Owner, Manager, or Behavior Manager can do this through the Consequence History Report.

Fun Fact: You can follow this same process for editing/ removing Behaviors assigned in error by accessing the Behavior History Report.

Step-by-step Guide to Editing or Archiving a Consequence History Record

  1. Navigate to BehaviorsReports and select Consequence History.
    ○ Confirm you are viewing the correct report before making changes.

  2. Search for the student whose record you need to edit/ archive.

    ○ Use the filtering options to select the correct record.

  3. Scroll to the far right of the record row.
    ○ Action controls for each record appear at the far-right side of the table.

  4. To Archive a record, select Archive.
    ○ Click the Archive icon (it looks like a blue box with a downward arrow) to archive the consequence record.

  5. To Edit a record (optional)
    ○ Click the Edit icon (pencil) to open the record editor.
    ○ Update the Consequence, Date, and Time fields as needed.
    ○ Click Save to apply changes.

It is important to remember that archiving a consequence history record does not change the student’s current step in your progressive discipline policy, because the step is controlled by automation counters rather than by the archived record.

Troubleshooting

Issue: A specific consequence is missing from the Consequence History report. Solution: If a specific consequence is missing from the Consequence History report, first verify that the Filters (such as Date Range or Status) are set correctly to include the missing record. If the filters are correct and the record is still not visible, navigate to the Behavior History report to confirm that the behavior incident itself was successfully saved, as consequences are tied directly to behavior records.

Issue: A student's Automation Counter step does not match their behavior history.

Solution: When a student's Automation Counter step does not match their actual behavior history, it is usually because a behavior incident was deleted or archived without a corresponding manual update to the student's counter. To fix a discrepancy in the Automation Counter report, navigate to the student's profile, select the relevant Automation Group, and manually adjust the Step number to reflect the correct count.

Issue: Staff members cannot see the "Archive" or "Edit" buttons in a report.

Solution: If staff members cannot see the Archive or Edit buttons while viewing a report, their assigned User Role likely lacks the necessary permissions to manage consequence records. To resolve this, a school Owner must navigate to Settings > Roles & Permissions and ensure that the specific role has the Behavior Manager role.
